MONITOR DESCRIPTION

The air fuel ratio sensor outputs a voltage in proportion to the air-fuel ratio. If impedance (alternating current resistance) or voltage output of the sensor deviates greatly from the standard range, the ECM interprets this as an open or short malfunction of the air fuel ratio sensor circuit.

WIRING DIAGRAM

Refer to DTC P0031 (LandCruiser RM00000187I051X_03.html).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

NOTICE:
After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (LandCruiser RM0000012XK0AVX.html) and initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08IX.html).
HINT:
Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR - ECM)
  1. Disconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

  1. Disconnect the ECM connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    C131-3 (A1A+) - C152-31 (A1A+)
    Always
    Below 1 Ω
    C131-4 (A1A-) - C152-32 (A1A-)
    Always
    Below 1 Ω
    C131-3 (A1A+) or C152-31 (A1A+) - Body ground and other terminals
    Always
    10 kΩ or higher
    C131-4 (A1A-) or C152-32 (A1A-) - Body ground and other terminals
    Always
    10 kΩ or higher
  1. Reconnect the air fuel ratio sensor connector.

  1. Reconnect the ECM connector.

OK

2.REPLACE AIR FUEL RATIO SENSOR
  1. Replace the air fuel ratio sensor (LandCruiser RM000004KGB00OX.html).

NEXT

3.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED
  1. Warm up the engine.

  1. Connect the GTS to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the engine switch on (IG).

  1. Turn the GTS on.

  1. Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1ENX.html).

  1. Drive the vehicle at 50 km/h (30 mph) or more for a total of 300 seconds or more.

    HINT:
Make sure that the exhaust gas temperature (Exhaust Temperature B1S1) is 200°C (392°F) or higher.
  1. Confirm that the DTC is not output again.
