DESCRIPTION
The EGR valve position sensor is mounted on the electric EGR control valve assembly and used for detecting the EGR valve angle. The EGR valve angle detected by the sensor is sent to the ECM as feedback. The ECM then regulates the EGR valve angle in accordance with engine running conditions.P0405DTC Detection Drive Pattern
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
Engine switch on (IG) for 5 seconds
| EGR valve position sensor output voltage is less than 0.2 V for 2 seconds. (1 trip detection logic)
| - Open or short in EGR valve position sensor circuit
- Electric EGR control valve assembly (EGR valve position sensor)
- ECM

MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the output voltage of the EGR valve position sensor deviates from the normal operating range of 0.2 to 4.8 V for more than 2 seconds, the ECM interprets this as a malfunction of the sensor circuit and illuminates the MIL.
WIRING DIAGRAM
Refer to DTC P042E (LandCruiser RM000004KMK024X_03.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (LandCruiser RM0000012XK0AVX.html) and initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08IX.html).
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK ECM (EGR VALVE POSITION SENSOR VOLTAGE) |
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Voltage:

| Switch Condition
| Specified Condition
|
C151-31 (VCEG) - C151-24 (EEGL)
| Engine switch on (IG)
| 4.5 to 5.5 V
