MONITOR DESCRIPTION
When the sensor output voltage remains at less than 0.3 V, or higher than 4.7 V for 4 seconds, the ECM stores a DTC.
WIRING DIAGRAM
Refer to DTC P0016 (LandCruiser RM00000187G09KX_02.html).
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
- NOTICE:
- After replacing the ECM, the new ECM needs registration (LandCruiser RM0000012XK0AVX.html) and initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08IX.html).
- HINT:
- Read freeze frame data using the GTS. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the GTS on.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1ENX.html).
Turn the engine switch off for 30 seconds or more.
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) for 4 seconds or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Check whether the DTC changes when the connector is disconnected and connected.

| Switch Condition
| Specified Condition
|
C152-17 (VCG) - C152-18 (G2-)
| Engine switch on (IG)
| 4.5 to 5.5 V

3.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - ECM) |
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
Disconnect the ECM connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection
| Condition
| Specified Condition
|
C170-1 (G22+) - C152-27 (G2+)
| Always
| Below 1 Ω
|
C170-2 (G22-) - C152-18 (G2-)
| Always
| Below 1 Ω
|
C170-1 (G22+) or C152-27 (G2+) - Body ground and other terminals
| Always
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
C170-2 (G22-) or C152-18 (G2-) - Body ground and other terminals
| Always
| 10 kΩ or higher
|
Reconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
4.CHECK ECM (CHECK RESISTANCE) |
Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:

Reconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
5.REPLACE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR |
Replace the camshaft position sensor (LandCruiser RM0000013ZJ01SX.html).
6.REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR |
Repair or replace the harness or connector.
Replace the ECM (LandCruiser RM0000013Z002DX.html).
8.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED |
Connect the GTS to the DLC3.
Turn the engine switch on (IG).
Turn the GTS on.
Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1ENX.html).
Turn the engine switch off for 30 seconds or more.
Turn the engine switch on (IG) for 4 seconds or more.
Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Trouble Codes.
Confirm that the DTC is not output.
