DESCRIPTION

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0168)

REPLACE FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

BLEED AIR FROM FUEL SYSTEM

PERFORM FUEL SUPPLY PUMP ASSEMBLY INITIALIZATION

CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

Drive vehicle at high speed or with heavy load (Use freeze frame data from time malfunction occurred as reference while driving)
The fuel temperature is 110°C (230°F) or higher for 1 second or more (1 trip detection logic).

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

HINT:
  1. If DTC P0180, P0182 and/or P0183 is stored at the same time as P0168, the fuel temperature sensor may have an open or short circuit. Troubleshoot those DTCs first.
  2. Read freeze frame data using the intelligent tester. Freeze frame data records the engine condition when malfunctions are detected. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can help determine if the vehicle was moving or stationary, if the engine was warmed up or not, and other data from the time the malfunction occurred.
1.CHECK OTHER DTC OUTPUT (IN ADDITION TO DTC P0168)

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / DTC.

  1. Read the DTCs.

    If DTCs other than P0168 are output, perform troubleshooting for those codes first.

2.REPLACE FUEL TEMPERATURE SENSOR

  1. Replace fuel temperature sensor (LandCruiser RM000002Q0G007X.html).

3.BLEED AIR FROM FUEL SYSTEM

  1. Bleed the air from the fuel system (LandCruiser RM000002SY803CX_01_0002.html).

4.PERFORM FUEL SUPPLY PUMP ASSEMBLY INITIALIZATION

  1. Perform fuel supply pump assembly initialization (LandCruiser RM000000TIN08CX.html).

5.CONFIRM WHETHER MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN SUCCESSFULLY REPAIRED

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Clear the DTCs (LandCruiser RM000000PDK1DJX.html).

  1. Turn the ignition switch to ON and turn the tester on.

  1. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Fuel Temperature.

  1. Stop the engine, and then allow it to soak for 30 minutes or more.

  1. Start the engine.

  1. Run the engine at 2500 rpm with no load.

  1. Check that "Fuel Temperature" changes by 1°C (1.8°F) or more within 10 minutes while running the engine at 2500 rpm with no load.
