Quarter Window Glass -- Installation |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the LH side and RH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the RH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (Toyota Fortuner RM00000118W017X.html).
1. INSTALL QUARTER WINDOW ASSEMBLY RH |

Using a brush or sponge, apply Primer M to the exposed part of the vehicle body.
- NOTICE:
- Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Throw away any leftover primer.
- Do not apply too much primer.
Install a new spacer to the vehicle body.

Using a brush or sponge, apply primer G to the contact surface of a new quarter window glass.
- HINT:
- If primer is applied to an area that is specified, wipe off the primer with non-residue solvent before it dries.
- NOTICE:
- Allow the primer to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Throw away any leftover primer.
- Do not apply too much primer.
Apply adhesive to the quarter window glass.
- Adhesive:
- Toyota Genuine Windshield Glass Adhesive or equivalent
Cut off the tip of the cartridge nozzle as shown in the illustration.
- Standard:
Area Specified Condition a 12.0 mm (0.472 in.) b 8.0 mm (0.315 in.) c 13.0 mm (0.512 in.) d 12.7 mm (0.500 in.)
- HINT:
- After cutting off the tip, use all adhesive within the time written in the table below.
- Usage Time Frame:
Temperature Usage Time Frame 35°C (95°F) 15 minutes 20°C (68°F) 1 hour 40 minutes 5°C (41°F) 8 hours
Load the sealer gun with the cartridge.
Apply adhesive to the quarter window glass as shown in the illustration.
Install the quarter window glass to the vehicle body.
Hold the quarter window glass in place securely with protective tape or equivalent until the adhesive hardens.
- NOTICE:
- Allow the primer coating to dry for 3 minutes or more.
- Check that the clips are attached to the body correctly.
- Check the clearance between the body and glass.
Lightly press the front surface of the glass to ensure a close fit.
Using a scraper, remove any excess or protruding adhesive.
- HINT:
- Apply adhesive onto the glass rim.
- NOTICE:
- Do not drive the vehicle within the time written in the table below.
- Minimum Time:
Temperature Minimum Time Prior to Driving Vehicle 35°C (95°F) 1 hour 30 minutes 20°C (68°F) 5 hours 5°C (41°F) 24 hours
2. INSTALL ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY |

Place the roof headlining into the vehicle as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the roof headlining when placing it.
for LHD:
Attach the 5 fasteners to install the roof headlining.
Install the 7 clips.
Connect the connectors and attach the 4 clamps.
for RHD:
Attach the 5 fasteners to install the roof headlining.
Install the clips.
Text in Illustration *1 w/o Assist Grip - - Connect the connectors and attach the 5 clamps.
Attach the 4 clamps to the front pillar.
3. INSTALL NO. 1 ROOM LIGHT ASSEMBLY |

Connect the light connector.
Install the room light with the 2 screws.
Attach the 4 claws to install the lens
4. INSTALL ASSIST GRIP |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for all assist grips.
Install the assist grip with the 2 screws.
Attach the 4 claws to close the 2 covers.
5. INSTALL INNER UPPER ROOF SIDE GARNISH RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
6. INSTALL QUARTER PILLAR GARNISH RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
7. INSTALL QUARTER INSIDE TRIM BOARD RH |
Detach the 8 claws and 10 clips to install the quarter inside trim board.
Install the clip.
Connect the rear No. 2 seat outer belt floor anchor with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 42 N*m{428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf}
Connect the rear No. 1 seat outer belt floor anchor with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 42 N*m{428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf}
Attach the 2 claws to install the outer lap belt anchor cover.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for both outer lap belt anchor covers.
8. CONNECT REAR NO. 2 SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY OUTER RH |

Connect the seat belt's floor anchor with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 42 N*m{428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf}
Install the belt outer anchor cover.

9. CONNECT REAR NO. 1 SEAT BELT ASSEMBLY OUTER RH |

Connect the seat belt's floor anchor with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 42 N*m{428 kgf*cm, 31 ft.*lbf}
Install the belt outer anchor cover.

10. INSTALL REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
11. INSTALL REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure described for the LH side.
12. INSTALL BACK DOOR SCUFF PLATE |
Attach the 4 claws, 2 guides and 6 clips to install the back door scuff plate.
13. INSTALL REAR NO. 2 SEAT ASSEMBLY RH |
Fully tilt the seatback forward.
Place the seat onto the lock striker.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.

Tighten the bolt on the rear side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
Tighten the bolt on the front side of the seat.
- Torque:
- 37 N*m{377 kgf*cm, 27 ft.*lbf}
Fully lock the seat to the lock striker.
- HINT:
- Confirm that the seat is firmly locked to the lock striker.
14. INSTALL REAR SEAT REAR BRACKET COVER RH |
Attach the hook to install the bracket cover.
Install the screw.
Return the seatback to the upright position.
15. INSTALL REAR SEAT FRONT BRACKET COVER RH |

Attach the hook to install the bracket cover.
Install the screw.
16. CHECK FOR LEAKS AND REPAIR |
Conduct a leak test after the adhesive has completely hardened.
Seal any leaks with auto glass sealer.
