Cruise Control System -- Fail-Safe Chart |
- HINT:
- If the following conditions are detected while the cruise control is in operation, the system clears the stored vehicle speed in the ECM and cancels the cruise control operation.
Vehicle Condition

CRUISE main indicator light blinks
| - There is an open or short in the stop light switch circuit
- There is a problem with the vehicle speed signal
| Turn the cruise control main switch on again
|
CRUISE main indicator light blinks
| - There is a problem with the input circuit of the stop light switch circuit
- There is a problem with the cancel circuit
- There is a problem with the ECD system*1
| Turn the ignition switch off and then on again
|
CRUISE main indicator light remains on (Cruise control is canceled)
| Under the following conditions, the stored vehicle speed is maintained:
- The vehicle speed is less than the low speed limit (approximately 40 km/h (25 mph)) while running with the cruise control on
- The VSC system is operated*3
| Push the cruise control main switch to +RES
|
- The vehicle speed is less than the stored speed by approximately 16 km/h (10 mph) or more
| Push the cruise control main switch to -SET
|
CRUISE main indicator light goes off
| There is a problem with the throttle position sensor and motor*2
| Turn the cruise control main switch on again after the throttle position sensor and motor returns to normal
|
There is a problem with the fuel injection system*1
| Fuel injection system returns to normal
|
