Transponder Key Amplifier -- Installation |
| 1. INSTALL TRANSPONDER KEY AMPLIFIER |
Align the claw of the amplifier with the upper bracket.
 |
Push in the amplifier and install it to the upper bracket.
- NOTICE:
- Do not push in the amplifier with excessive force as it may be damaged.
Connect the amplifier connector.
| 2. INSTALL UPPER STEERING COLUMN COVER |

Install the lower cover with the 3 screws.
- Torque:
- 2.0 N*m{20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf}
| 3. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER |
|
Install the lower cover with the 3 screws.
- Torque:
- 2.0 N*m{20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf}
| 4. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (w/ Airbag System, w/ Steering Pad Switch) |
Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
 |
Install the steering wheel with the set nut.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
Connect the steering pad switch connector.
 |

Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
Install the steering set nut.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
| 6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (w/o Airbag System, w/o Steering Pad Switch) |

Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.
Install the steering set nut.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
| 7. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (w/ Airbag System, w/ Steering Pad Switch) |

Support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.
Connect the airbag connector.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
Connect the horn connector.
Install the steering pad after confirming that the circumference grooves of the screws are caught on the screw case.
Using a T30 "torx" socket, install the 2 screws.
- Torque:
- 8.8 N*m{90 kgf*cm, 78 in.*lbf}
| 8. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (w/ Airbag System, w/o Steering Pad Switch) |

Support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.
Connect the airbag connector.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
Connect the horn connector.
Install the steering pad after confirming that the circumference grooves of the screws are caught on the screw case.
Using a T30 "torx" socket, install the 2 screws.
- Torque:

| 9. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY (w/o Airbag System, w/o Steering Pad Switch) |
Attach the 4 claws shown in the illustration to the steering wheel to install the steering pad.

| 10. INSTALL LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/ Airbag System, w/ Steering Pad Switch) |
Attach the 2 claws to install the cover.
 |
| 11. INSTALL LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER (w/ Airbag System, w/ Steering Pad Switch) |
Attach the 2 claws to install the cover.
 |
| 12. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- NOTICE:
- When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Toyota Fortuner RM000002HD2002X.html).
| 13. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT |
For vehicles with SRS:
Check the SRS warning light (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XFD06DX.html).
| 14. CHECK ENGINE START |
Start the engine. Then check that the engine idles.
