ABS OPERATION
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
Anti-Lock Brake System -- System Description |
- HINT:
- The skid control ECU has a built-in brake actuator.
The ABS helps to prevent the wheels from locking when the brakes are applied firmly or when braking on a slippery surface.
Using each wheel's speed sensor signal, the skid control ECU calculates wheel speed and deceleration to check each wheel's slipping condition. Depending on the slipping condition, the ECU will control the pressure holding valve and pressure reduction valve to adjust the fluid pressure of each wheel cylinder.
When a failure occurs in the ABS, the ABS warning light illuminates and ABS operation is prohibited.
