Automatic Transmission System -- Check Mode Procedure


HINT:
Intelligent tester only:
Check mode has a higher sensitivity to malfunctions and can detect malfunctions that normal mode cannot detect. Check mode can also detect all the malfunctions that normal mode can detect.
In check mode, the ECM sets DTCs using 1 trip detection logic.
NOTICE:
All the stored DTCs and freeze frame data are erased if: 1) the ECM is changed from normal mode to check mode or vice versa; or 2) the ignition switch is turned from ON to ACC or OFF during check mode. Before changing modes, always check and make a note of any DTCs and freeze frame data.

CHECK MODE PROCEDURE

  1. Make sure that the following conditions are met:

    1. Battery voltage 11 V or more.

    2. Throttle valve fully closed.

    3. Shift lever on P or N.

    4. A/C OFF.

  2. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

  3. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  4. Turn the ignition switch ON and turn the intelligent tester ON.

  5. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Check Mode.

  7. Make sure the MIL flashes as shown in the illustration.

  8. Start the engine (the MIL should turn OFF).

  9. Simulate the conditions of the malfunction described by the customer.

  10. Check the DTC(s) and freeze frame data using the intelligent tester.

  11. After checking the DTCs, inspect the appropriate circuits (Toyota Fortuner RM000000W7K01DX.html).
