Oil Filter Replacement


  1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

  2. REMOVE OIL FILTER WHEN NOT USING DRAIN HOSE

  3. REMOVE OIL FILTER WHEN USING DRAIN HOSE

  4. INSTALL OIL FILTER

  5. ADD ENGINE OIL

  6. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKS

  7. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL

Oil Filter -- Replacement


CAUTION:
  1. Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the loss of natural skin oils leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants, which may cause skin cancer.
  2. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Avoid contact with used oil. If contact occurs, wash the area thoroughly with soap or waterless hand cleaner. Never use gasoline, thinners or solvents to wash the skin.
  3. In order to protect the environment, dispose of used oil and oil filters at designated disposal sites only.


1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL
  1. Remove the oil filler cap.

  1. Remove the engine under cover.

  1. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil into a container.



2. REMOVE OIL FILTER WHEN NOT USING DRAIN HOSE

  1. Remove the drain pipe cap.

  1. While removing the oil filter with SST, collect the oil from the oil filter in a container.

  1. Install the drain pipe cap.

  1. Clean the container.



3. REMOVE OIL FILTER WHEN USING DRAIN HOSE
  1. Remove the drain pipe cap.

  1. Connect a drain hose to the oil filter bracket.

    HINT:
    1. Drain hose inside diameter: 8 mm (0.31 in.)
    2. Drain hose length: Approximately 90 cm (35.43 in.)
  1. Feed the drain hose down through the engine under cover, and put a container beneath the drain hose to collect the oil from the oil filter.

  1. Using SST, remove the oil filter.

  1. Remove the drain hose and install the drain pipe cap.

  1. Clean the container.



4. INSTALL OIL FILTER

  1. Check and clean the oil filter installation surface.

  1. Apply clean engine oil to the gasket of a new oil filter.

  1. Lightly screw the oil filter into place by hand. Tighten it until the gasket contacts the seat.

  1. Using SST, tighten the oil filter an additional 3/4 turn.

    If using a torque wrench to tighten the oil filter:
    Torque:
    18 N*m{183 kgf*cm, 13 ft.*lbf}


5. ADD ENGINE OIL
  1. Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.

    Torque:
    40 N*m{408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf}
  1. Add fresh engine oil.

    Standard capacity:

    Item

    Drain and refill with oil filter change
    5.5 liters (5.8 US qts, 4.8 Imp. qts)
    Drain and refill without oil filter change
    5.2 liters (5.5 US qts, 4.6 Imp. qts)
    Dry fill
    6.6 liters (7.0 US qts, 5.8 Imp. qts)
  1. Install the oil filler cap.



6. CHECK FOR ENGINE OIL LEAKS


7. CHECK ENGINE OIL LEVEL
  1. Warm up the engine, stop the engine and wait 5 minutes. The oil level should be between the dipstick's low and full level marks.
    If low, check for leakage and add oil up to the full level mark.

    NOTICE:
    Do not fill with engine oil over the full level mark.
