1. INSPECT DIESEL THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

  1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.

    HINT:
    After the ignition switch is turned from ON to OFF, perform this procedure so that the ECM can learn the throttle valve fully closed position.

  1. Connect the intelligent tester to the DLC3.

  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.

    HINT:
    With the engine not yet started and the ignition switch ON, the diesel throttle body stays fully open.

  1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard voltage:
    Tester Connection
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    VLU (E6-29) - E2 (E7-28)
    		Ignition switch ON
    (Engine not running)
    		3.0 to 4.0 V
    If the result is not as specified, replace the diesel throttle body.
    HINT:
    If necessary, inspect the wire harness between the ECM and diesel throttle body.

  1. Push the tester main switch ON.

    1. Enter the following menus:
      Select: Powertrain / Engine / Data List / Throttle Valve Fully Closed.

  1. Read the throttle valve fully closed learned position value that is displayed on the tester under the item "Throttle Valve Fully Closed".

    Standard degree:
    Item
    		Condition
    		Specified Condition
    Throttle Valve Fully
    Closed
    		Ignition switch ON
    (Engine not running)
    		14.25 to 21.25 (deg.)
    If the result is not as specified, replace the diesel throttle body.
