Roof Rack Installation


  1. INSTALL ROOF RACK ASSEMBLY LH

  2. INSTALL FRONT ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

  3. INSTALL REAR ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

  4. INSTALL CENTER ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

Roof Rack -- Installation


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH and LH sides.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. INSTALL ROOF RACK ASSEMBLY LH
HINT:
When installing the roof rack, heat the vehicle body and roof rack leg cushion using a heat light.
Standard:
Item
Temperature
Vehicle Body
40 to 60°C (104 to 140°F)
Roof Rack Leg Cushion
20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
NOTICE:
Do not heat the vehicle body or roof rack leg cushion excessively.

  1. Clean the vehicle body surface.

    1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body surface.

    2. Remove the double-sided tape from the vehicle body.

    3. Wipe off any tape adhesive residue with cleaner.

  1. When reusing a bolt:

    1. Clean the threads of the bolt with non-residue solvent.

    2. Apply adhesive to the threads of the bolt.

      Adhesive:
      Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1344, Three Bond 1344 or equivalent.

  1. Install the roof rack assembly.

    1. Using a heat light, heat the vehicle body and roof rack leg cushion.

    2. Remove the peeling papers from the face of each roof rack leg cushion.

      HINT:
      After removing the peeling paper, keep the exposed adhesive free from foreign matter.

    3. Install the roof rack with the 6 bolts.

      Torque:
      9.4 N*m{96 kgf*cm, 83 in.*lbf}


2. INSTALL FRONT ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

  1. Attach the 4 claws to install the front roof rack leg cover.



3. INSTALL REAR ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

  1. Attach the 4 claws to install the rear roof rack leg cover.



4. INSTALL CENTER ROOF RACK LEG COVER LH

  1. Attach the 2 claws to install the center roof rack leg cover.
