CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT
DTC B1630/23 Driver Side Rear Airbag Sensor Circuit Malfunction |
DESCRIPTION
The rear airbag sensor RH consists of the safing sensor, the diagnostic circuit, the lateral deceleration sensor, etc.If the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether the SRS should be activated.
DTC B1630/23 is recorded when a malfunction is detected in the rear airbag sensor RH circuit.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS |
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Check that the connector is properly connected to the rear airbag sensor RH.
- OK:
- The connector is properly connected.

2.CHECK CONNECTORS |
Disconnect the connectors from the side airbag sensor RH and rear airbag sensor RH.
Check that the connector (on the rear airbag sensor RH side) is not damaged.
- OK:
- The connector is not deformed or damaged.

3.CHECK REAR AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT |

Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch ON.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Voltage:
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition R16-4 (BCR+) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V R16-3 (BCR-) - Body ground
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Using a service wire, connect terminals 1 (BCR+) and 2 (BCR-) of connector B.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert a service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting the wire.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition R16-4 (BCR+) - R16-3 (BCR-) Always Below 1 Ω
Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition R16-4 (BCR+) - R16-3 (BCR-) Always 1 MΩ or higher R16-4 (BCR+) - Body ground R16-3 (BCR-) - Body ground

4.CHECK FOR DTC |
Connect the connectors to the side airbag sensor RH.

Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY008X.html).
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY008X.html).
- OK:
- DTC B1630 is output.
- HINT:
- Codes other than B1630 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.

5.CHECK SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR RH |

Interchange the side airbag sensor LH with RH and connect the connectors to them.
Connect the negative (-) terminal cable to the battery, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY008X.html).
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Turn the ignition switch ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YVY008X.html).
Result Result Proceed to DTC B1630 and B1635 are not output A DTC B1630 is output B DTC B1635 is output C - HINT:
- Codes other than DTC B1630 and B1635 may be output at this time, but they are not related to this check.
Turn the ignition switch OFF.
Disconnect the negative (-) terminal cable from the battery, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Return the side airbag sensor LH and RH to their original positions and connect the connectors to them.
