Theft Deterrent System -- On-Vehicle Inspection

HINT:
If the battery is reconnected during the armed state, the system may enter the alarm sounding state and the alarm may sound. If so, perform a wireless unlock operation to stop the alarm.

1. OUTLINE OF THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM
  1. When the theft deterrent system detects that the vehicle is being tampered with, the system activates the alarm function.

  1. The theft deterrent system has 4 states: disarmed state, arming preparation state, armed state and alarm sounding state.

    1. Step 1: Disarmed state:

      1. The user is near the vehicle.
      2. The theft deterrent system is not operating.
    2. Step 2: Arming preparation state:

      1. The theft deterrent system is not operating.
    3. Step 3: Armed state:

      1. The user is not near the vehicle.
      2. The theft deterrent system is operating.
    4. Step 4: Alarm sounding state:

      1. While in the armed state, if a door or the engine hood is opened without using the wireless transmitter, the system enters the alarm sounding state and the alarm function is activated for 27.5 seconds.
      2. The alarm function consists of the horns sounding and hazard warning lights flashing.
      3. When the alarm is sounding, voltage to the starter is cut.

      Alarm method and time:
      Item
      Alarm Method
      Hazard warning lights
      Flashing at approximately
      0.35 second intervals
      Horns
      Sounding at approximately
      0.4 second intervals
      HINT:
If the condition that activated the alarm sounding state continues beyond the alarm's duration (see step 4 above), the theft deterrent system will reset the alarm a maximum of 10 times.

2. ARMING MODE

System state
State switching condition
Changed to
1. Disarmed state
(No key inserted into ignition key cylinder)
Performing the following will cause the system to enter the arming preparation state (at the same time, hazard warning lights flash and security horn sounds once):
  1. With all doors and engine hood closed, lock all doors by wireless operation.
NOTICE:
The system will not enter the arming preparation state if any door or the engine hood is open.
2. Arming preparation state
2. Arming preparation state
Performing any of the following will cause the system to return to the disarmed state:
  1. Unlock all doors by wireless operation.
  2. Unlock all doors by manual operation.
  3. Open engine hood.
  4. Insert key into ignition key cylinder.
  5. Reconnect battery.
1. Disarmed state
Performing the following will cause the system to enter the armed state:
  1. With all doors and engine hood closed, lock all doors. Allow approximately 30 seconds to elapse.
3. Armed state
3. Armed state
Performing either of the following will cause the system to return to the disarmed state:
  1. Unlock all doors by wireless operation.
  2. Insert key into ignition key cylinder and turn ignition switch ON.
HINT:
When the ignition switch is turned ON, the security indicator light turns off to indicate that the theft deterrent system has entered the disarmed state.
1. Disarmed state
Performing any of the following will cause the system to enter the alarm sounding state:
  1. Open any door.
  2. Open engine hood.
  3. Reconnect battery.
  4. Connect wire of ignition switch to body ground directly.
  5. Vehicle sustains excessive physical shock.
4. Alarm sounding state*
4. Alarm sounding state*
Performing either of the following will cause the system to return to the disarmed state:
  1. Unlock all doors by wireless operation.
  2. Insert key into ignition key cylinder and turn ignition switch ON.
HINT:
Even if all doors are unlocked through wireless operation, the security indicator light blinks.
1. Disarmed state
When a theft attempt is detected, the hazard warning lights flash and the horns sound.
The alarm sounding state operates for 27.5 seconds.
3. Armed state
HINT:
*: When the alarm is sounding, voltage to the starter is cut.

3. SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OUTPUT
  1. The theft warning ECU outputs a signal to cause flashing or illumination of the security indicator light according to the status of the system.

    Output:
    Condition
    Security Indicator Light
    Disarmed state
    OFF (Immobiliser system not set)
    Blinking (Immobiliser system set)
    Arming preparation state
    ON
    Armed state
    Blinking
    Alarm sounding state
    ON
    Blinking frequency:
    Time
    Security Indicator Light
    0.2 seconds
    ON
    1.8 seconds
    OFF

4. ALARM MEMORY FUNCTION
  1. The alarm memory function informs the user if the theft deterrent system entered the alarm sounding state while the user was away.

    1. After the theft deterrent system is set, if the system enters the alarm sounding state and the alarm sounding state ends before the theft deterrent system is canceled by the user, the alarm memory function will operate. When the theft deterrent system is canceled by the user, the alarm memory function will flash the hazard warning lights 3 times at 0.35 second intervals.
