Theft Deterrent System -- On-Vehicle Inspection |
- HINT:
- If the battery is reconnected during the armed state, the system may enter the alarm sounding state and the alarm may sound. If so, perform a wireless unlock operation to stop the alarm.
1. OUTLINE OF THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM |
When the theft deterrent system detects that the vehicle is being tampered with, the system activates the alarm function.
The theft deterrent system has 4 states: disarmed state, arming preparation state, armed state and alarm sounding state.
Step 1: Disarmed state:
- The user is near the vehicle.
- The theft deterrent system is not operating.
- The user is near the vehicle.
Step 2: Arming preparation state:
- The theft deterrent system is not operating.
- The theft deterrent system is not operating.
Step 3: Armed state:
- The user is not near the vehicle.
- The theft deterrent system is operating.
- The user is not near the vehicle.
Step 4: Alarm sounding state:
- While in the armed state, if a door or the engine hood is opened without using the wireless transmitter, the system enters the alarm sounding state and the alarm function is activated for 27.5 seconds.
- The alarm function consists of the horns sounding and hazard warning lights flashing.
- When the alarm is sounding, voltage to the starter is cut.
Alarm method and time: Item Alarm Method Hazard warning lights Flashing at approximately
0.35 second intervalsHorns Sounding at approximately

- If the condition that activated the alarm sounding state continues beyond the alarm's duration (see step 4 above), the theft deterrent system will reset the alarm a maximum of 10 times.
- While in the armed state, if a door or the engine hood is opened without using the wireless transmitter, the system enters the alarm sounding state and the alarm function is activated for 27.5 seconds.
2. ARMING MODE |

3. SECURITY INDICATOR LIGHT OUTPUT |
The theft warning ECU outputs a signal to cause flashing or illumination of the security indicator light according to the status of the system.
Output: Condition Security Indicator Light Disarmed state OFF (Immobiliser system not set)
Blinking (Immobiliser system set)Arming preparation state ON Armed state Blinking Alarm sounding state ON Blinking frequency: Time Security Indicator Light 0.2 seconds ON 1.8 seconds OFF
4. ALARM MEMORY FUNCTION |
The alarm memory function informs the user if the theft deterrent system entered the alarm sounding state while the user was away.
After the theft deterrent system is set, if the system enters the alarm sounding state and the alarm sounding state ends before the theft deterrent system is canceled by the user, the alarm memory function will operate. When the theft deterrent system is canceled by the user, the alarm memory function will flash the hazard warning lights 3 times at 0.35 second intervals.
