Back Door Glass -- Removal |
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. REMOVE REAR WIPER ARM ASSEMBLY |

Detach the 2 claws and remove the cap.
Remove the nut and arm and blade.

3. REMOVE REAR SPOILER |

Remove the 2 grommets and cover.
Disconnect the center stop light connector.

Remove the 3 nuts.
Detach the 4 clips and rear spoiler.
Remove the 2 screws and center stop light.

4. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS CHANNEL RH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedures described for the LH side.
5. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS CHANNEL LH |

Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
Using a heat light, heat the channel.
- Standard heating temperature:
Item Specified Condition Channel 20 to 30°C (68 to 86°F)
- NOTICE:
- Do not heat the moulding excessively.
Using a screwdriver, detach the tape and channel.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- NOTICE:
- If planning to reuse the moulding, take care not to damage it.
6. REMOVE BACK DOOR TRIM BOARD ASSEMBLY |
Using a screwdriver, detach the 16 clips and remove the trim board.
- HINT:
- Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
7. REMOVE BACK DOOR GLASS |
Disconnect the rear window defogger connector.
Apply protective tape to the outer surface of the vehicle body to prevent scratches.
- NOTICE:
- When separating the back door glass from the vehicle, be careful not to damage the vehicle's paint or interior/exterior ornaments.

From the interior, insert a piano wire between the vehicle body and back door glass as shown in the illustration.

Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to both wire ends.
Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back door glass.
- NOTICE:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back door glass.
Using suction cups, remove the back door glass.
8. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OPENING TRIM |
9. CLEAN BACK DOOR GLASS |

Clean the outer edge of the back door glass with non-residue solvent.
- NOTICE:
- Do not touch the back door glass surface after cleaning it.
- Be careful not to damage the glass.
- Even if using new back door glass, clean the back door glass with non-residue solvent.
10. CLEAN VEHICLE BODY |

Using a scraper, remove the moulding and adhesive from the back door glass.
Clean and shape the contact surface of the vehicle body.
On the contact surface of the vehicle body, use a knife to cut away excess adhesive as shown in the illustration.
- HINT:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible.
- NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the vehicle body.
Clean the contact surface of the vehicle body with cleaner.
- HINT:
- Even if all the adhesive has been removed, clean the vehicle body.
