INSPECT PRE-HEATING
INSPECT AFTER GLOW TIME
Pre-Heating System -- On-Vehicle Inspection |
1. INSPECT LIGHTING TIME OF GLOW INDICATOR LIGHT |
- NOTICE:
- Turn the ignition switch OFF for 60 seconds before performing this inspection.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and measure the lighting time.
- Lighting time:
- Refer to the graph
- NOTICE:
- Turn the ignition switch OFF for 60 seconds before performing this inspection.
Turn the ignition switch to the ON position, and measure the time that the battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.
- Standard pre-heating time :
Engine Coolant Temperature Condition
| Specified Condition
|
40°C (104°F) or more
| 1 sec.
|
40°C (104°F) or less
| Refer to the graph (15 sec. at the longest)
|
Turn the ignition switch to the START position, and check that battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.
While cranking the engine, measure the time that the battery voltage is applied to the glow plugs.
- Standard pre-heating time:
Engine Coolant Temperature Condition
| Specified Condition

3. INSPECT AFTER GLOW TIME |
- NOTICE:
- Turn the ignition switch OFF for 60 seconds before performing this inspection.
After the engine starts, measure how long it takes for battery voltage to be applied to terminals E23-2 (SREL) and E20-14 (E1) of the ECM.
- Standard after glow time:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
E23-2 (SREL) - E20-14 (E1)
| See graph
