Radiator Removal


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  3. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE

  4. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH

  5. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH

  6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  7. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET

  8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET

  9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE (for Automatic Transmission)

  10. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE (for Automatic Transmission)

  11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD

  12. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY

Radiator -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.


2. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
  1. Remove the 4 bolts and cover.



3. REMOVE RADIATOR GRILLE

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.

  1. Pull the radiator grille in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to detach the 6 claws and remove the radiator grille.



4. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR LH

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.

  1. Detach the claw and remove the deflector.



5. REMOVE RADIATOR SIDE DEFLECTOR RH
  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.

  1. Detach the claw and remove the deflector.



6. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT


  1. Remove the radiator cap.

  1. Loosen the 2 cylinder block drain cock plugs and radiator drain cock plug, and then drain the coolant.

    HINT:
    Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.


7. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE INLET


8. DISCONNECT RADIATOR HOSE OUTLET


9. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER INLET TUBE (for Automatic Transmission)
  1. Disconnect the inlet tube from the radiator tank lower.



10. DISCONNECT NO. 1 OIL COOLER OUTLET TUBE (for Automatic Transmission)
  1. Disconnect the outlet tube from the radiator tank lower.



11. REMOVE FAN SHROUD


    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50
  1. Remove the 3 bolts and oil reservoir.

  1. Disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator tank upper.

  1. Loosen the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan.

  1. Remove the drive belt (Toyota Fortuner RM000000YN4003X_01_0001.html).

  1. Remove the 2 bolts holding the fan shroud.

  1. Remove the 4 nuts holding the fluid coupling fan, and then remove the shroud together with the fluid coupling fan.

    NOTICE:
    Be careful not to damage the radiator core.
  1. Remove the fan pulley from the water pump.



12. REMOVE RADIATOR ASSEMBLY


    Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50
  1. Disconnect the 2 front airbag sensor connectors.

  1. Using a clip remover, detach the 4 clamps shown in the illustration from the radiator side.

    HINT:
    Tape the clip remover tip before use.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts and radiator.
