Generator Removal


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER

  3. REMOVE DRIVE BELT

  4. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

Generator -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (Toyota Fortuner RM000002HD2002X.html).


2. REMOVE V-BANK COVER
  1. Remove the 2 nuts and cover.



3. REMOVE DRIVE BELT

  1. While releasing the belt tension by turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the V-ribbed belt from the belt tensioner.



4. REMOVE GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the terminal cap.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts, nut and generator wire.

  1. Disconnect the generator connector.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and generator.
