Steering Column Assembly -- Removal |
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD |
3. REMOVE STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY |
4. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY |
Remove the steering wheel set nut.
Place matchmarks on the steering wheel and main shaft.

Using SST, remove the steering wheel.
- SST
- 09950-50013(09951-05010,09952-05010,09953-05020,09954-05021)
5. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN LOWER COVER |
Remove the 3 screws and lower cover.

6. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN UPPER COVER |
Detach the claw and remove the upper cover.
7. REMOVE COMBINATION SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Disconnect the connectors from the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
Use pliers to hold the clamp and raise the claw with a screwdriver. Remove the combination switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly from the steering column assembly.

8. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY |

Detach the 2 claws, 3 clips and 3 guides and remove the lower instrument panel finish panel.
9. DISCONNECT STEERING SLIDING YOKE |
Loosen the bolt labeled A.

Place matchmarks on the steering yoke and steering intermediate shaft.
Remove the bolt labeled B.
10. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 3 bolts and cover.

Remove the 3 bolts and pull out the steering column together with the steering sliding with coupling yoke.
