Front Shock Absorber With Coil Spring Installation


  1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

  2. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

  3. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

  4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

  5. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  6. TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

  7. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Front Shock Absorber With Coil Spring -- Installation


HINT:
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (Toyota Fortuner RM00000118W017X.html).


1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING


Toyota Fortuner. Ggn50, 60 Kun51, 61 Tgn51 Lan50

  1. Install the shock absorber on the body so that the lower end of the coil spring faces the rear of the vehicle.

  1. Install the 3 nuts on the upper side of the shock absorber with coil spring.

    Torque:
    40 N*m{408 kgf*cm, 30 ft.*lbf}

  1. Temporarily install the bolt and nut as shown in the illustration.

    HINT:
    Fix the nut in place and temporarily install the bolt.


2. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Install the stabilizer link to the steering knuckle with the nut.

    Torque:
    70 N*m{714 kgf*cm, 52 ft.*lbf}
    HINT:
    If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a 6 mm hexagon wrench to hold the stud in place.


3. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.


4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Torque:
105 N*m{1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}


5. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.



6. TIGHTEN FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING

  1. Fix the nut in place and tighten the bolt.

    Torque:
    95 N*m{969 kgf*cm, 70 ft.*lbf}
    NOTICE:
    Do not tighten the nut.


7. INSPECT AND ADJUST FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT
HINT:
Refer to "SUSPENSION - FRONT WHEEL ALIGNMENT - ADJUSTMENT" applicable to this vehicle model and perform the inspection and adjustment.
