Park / Neutral Position Switch -- Installation |
1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY |
Install the park/neutral position switch to the manual valve shaft.
Temporarily install the bolt.
Install a new lock washer and the nut.
- Torque:
- 7.0 N*m{71 kgf*cm, 62 in.*lbf}
Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, and then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.
Align the neutral basic line with the switch groove, and tighten the bolt.
- Torque:
- 13 N*m{130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf}
Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.
2. CONNECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH CONNECTOR |
3. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- NOTICE:
- Certain systems need to be initialized after disconnecting and reconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
4. PERFORM INITIALIZATION |
- HINT:
- Refer to "INTRODUCTION REPAIR INSTRUCTION-INITIALIZATION" and perform initialization.
5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION |
When moving the shift lever from P to R with the ignition switch ON and the brake pedal depressed, make sure that the shift lever moves smoothly and correctly into position.
Start the engine and make sure that the vehicle moves forward after moving the shift lever from N to D, and moves rearward after shifting to the R.
If the results are not as specified, inspect the park/neutral position switch and check the shift lever.
6. ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION |
Move the shift lever to N.
Remove the nut and disconnect the control cable.
Turn the control shaft lever clockwise until it stops, and then turn it counterclockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position.
While holding the control shaft lever slightly toward the R position side, connect the cable with the nut.
- Torque:
- 16 N*m{163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf}
7. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH ASSEMBLY |
Measure the resistance of the park/neutral switch when the shift lever is moved to each position.
- Standard Resistance:
