Tire And Wheel System -- Inspection



1. INSPECT TIRE
  1. Measure the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.

    Standard cold tire inflation pressure:
    Tire Size
    Front Pressure
    Rear Pressure
    265/70R 16 112S
    210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm2, 30 psi)
    210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm2, 30 psi)
    265/65R 17 112S
    210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm2, 30 psi)
    210 kPa (2.1 kgf/cm2, 30 psi)

  1. Using a dial indicator, measure the tire runout.

    Standard tire runout:
    3.0 mm (0.118 in.) or less


2. ROTATE TIRE

  1. Rotate the tires.

    HINT:
    The rotation method is different depending on the type of the vehicle's wheels and spare tire's wheel (refer to the illustration).


3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE

  1. Check and adjust the balance of the wheels.

    Standard imbalance after adjustment:
    Tire Size
    Balance Weight
    265/70R 16 112S
    14 g (0.030 lb) or less
    265/65R 17 112S
    13 g (0.029 lb) or less


4. INSPECT WHEEL BEARING BACKLASH
  1. Inspect the front wheel bearing backlash (Toyota Fortuner RM00000112N004X.html).



5. INSPECT FOR AXLE HUB DEVIATION
  1. Inspect for front axle hub deviation (Toyota Fortuner RM00000112N004X.html).
