Steering Pad On-Vehicle Inspection


  1. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)

  2. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)

Steering Pad -- On-Vehicle Inspection



1. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE NOT INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)
  1. Perform a diagnostic system check (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XFD0EGX.html).

  1. With the steering pad installed on the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad with a new one:
    Cuts, minute cracks or marked discoloration on the steering pad top surface or in the grooved portion.



2. CHECK STEERING PAD (VEHICLE INVOLVED IN COLLISION AND AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYED)
  1. Perform a diagnostic system check (Toyota Fortuner RM000000XFD0EGX.html).

  1. With the steering pad removed from the vehicle, perform a visual check. If there are any defects as mentioned below, replace the steering pad or steering wheel with a new one:

    1. Cuts, minute cracks, or marked discoloration on the steering pad.
    2. Cracks or other damage to the connectors.
    3. Deformation or cracks in the steering pad contact plate.
    CAUTION:
    For removal and installation of the steering pad, be sure to follow the correct procedure.
