Front Axle Hub Bolt Replacement
DISCONNECT FRONT WHEEL
REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
REMOVE FRONT DISC
REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT
INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT
INSTALL FRONT DISC
CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH
INSTALL FRONT WHEEL
Front Axle Hub Bolt -- Replacement |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
- The procedures listed below are for the LH side.
- A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (Toyota Fortuner RM00000118W017X.html).
| 1. DISCONNECT FRONT WHEEL |
| 2. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH |
Remove the bolt and disconnect the brake tube bracket from the steering knuckle.
Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the disc brake cylinder.
Support the brake caliper securely.
| 4. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT |
Temporarily install 2 nuts to the hub bolts as shown in the illustration.
Using SST and a screwdriver, remove the hub bolt.

| 5. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT |
Temporarily install a plate washer and nut to a new hub bolt as shown in the illustration.
Using a screwdriver to hold the front axle, install the hub bolt by tightening the nut. Then remove the nut and plate washer.
Remove the 2 nuts from the hub bolts.
| 7. CONNECT FRONT DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY LH |
Connect the disc brake cylinder with the 2 bolts.
- Torque:
- 123 N*m{1,254 kgf*cm, 91 ft.*lbf}
Connect the brake tube bracket to the steering knuckle with the bolt.
- Torque:
- 29 N*m{296 kgf*cm, 21 ft.*lbf}
- Torque:
- 105 N*m{1,071 kgf*cm, 77 ft.*lbf}
