Intelligent tester only:
Inspect the vehicle's ECM using check mode. Intermittent problems are easier to detect with the intelligent tester when the ECM is in check mode. In check mode, the ECM uses 1 trip detection logic, which has a higher sensitivity to malfunctions than normal mode (default), which uses 2 trip detection logic.
  1. Clear the DTCs (Toyota Fortuner RM000000ZPW007X.html).
  2. Change the ECM from normal mode to check mode using the intelligent tester (Toyota Fortuner RM000000ZPX007X.html).
  3. Perform a simulation test (Toyota Fortuner RM0000012Q9005X.html).
  4. Check the connectors and terminals (Toyota Fortuner RM000000UZ3019X.html).
  5. Wiggle the harnesses and connectors (Toyota Fortuner RM000000UZ3019X.html).
