Parking Brake Lever Removal


  1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

Parking Brake Lever -- Removal



1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.


2. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Twist the transmission shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.

  1. for 4WD:
    Twist the transfer shift lever knob in the direction indicated by the arrow and remove it.



3. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Detach the 4 claws and remove the hole cover.



4. REMOVE UPPER CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the instrument panel lower and console box with the claws of the upper console panel.
  1. Detach the 12 claws and remove the console panel.



5. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 4 screws <F> and 2 bolts <E>.

  1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and console box.



6. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the lock nut and wire adjusting nut labeled A.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts labeled B and lever (with the No. 1 parking brake cable).

  1. Bend the claw labeled C so that the cable can be removed.

  1. Remove the 2 bolts and 2 nuts labeled D.

  1. Disconnect the cable from the lever.

  1. Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.

  1. Remove the screw and switch from the lever.
