CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTORS
CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT
CHECK INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE (CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR - ENGINE ROOM MAIN WIRE)
DTC B1612/83 Lost Communication with Front Airbag Sensor RH
DTC B1613/83 Front Airbag Sensor RH Initialization Incomplete
DESCRIPTION
The front airbag sensor RH circuit consists of the center airbag sensor and front airbag sensor RH.
The front airbag sensor RH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the center airbag sensor to determine if the airbag should be deployed.
DTC B1612/83 or B1613/83 is stored when a malfunction is detected in the front airbag sensor RH circuit.
DTC Code | DTC Detection Condition | Trouble Area |
B1612/83 | When one of the following conditions is met: The center airbag sensor receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the front airbag sensor RH circuit for 2 seconds. A front airbag sensor RH malfunction. A center airbag sensor malfunction. | Instrument panel wire Engine room main wire Front airbag sensor RH Center airbag sensor assembly |
B1613/83 | When one of the following conditions is met: The center airbag sensor receives a line short circuit signal, an open circuit signal, a short circuit to ground signal or a short circuit to B+ signal in the front airbag sensor RH circuit for 2 seconds. A front airbag sensor RH malfunction. A center airbag sensor malfunction. | Instrument panel wire Engine room main wire Front airbag sensor RH Center airbag sensor assembly |

3.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH CIRCUIT |
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Voltage:
Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition A6-2 (+SR) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V A6-1 (-SR) - Body ground Ignition switch ON Below 1 V
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Using a service wire, connect terminals 29 (+SR) and 27 (-SR) of connector B.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting a service wire.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A6-2 (+SR) - A6-1 (-SR) Always Below 1 Ω
Disconnect the service wire from connector B.
Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
- Standard Resistance:
Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition A6-2 (+SR) - A6-1 (-SR) Always 1 MΩ or higher A6-2 (+SR) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher A6-1 (-SR) - Body ground Always 1 MΩ or higher

4.CHECK FRONT AIRBAG SENSOR RH |

Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
Interchange the front airbag sensor RH with LH and connect the connectors to them.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs stored in the memory ().
Turn the ignition switch off.
Turn the ignition switch to ON, and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Check for DTCs ().
