DTC C1248/48 Open Circuit in Rear Differential Lock

Description

DTC No. DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area
C1248/48 With the vehicle speed at 50 km/h (30 mph) or more, the rear differential lock position switch changes from off to on and 3 seconds or more elapse.
  1. Rear differential lock position switch (No. 1 transfer indicator switch)
  2. Master cylinder solenoid (Skid control ECU)
  3. Harness or connector

Inspection procedure

1.INSPECT REAR DIFFERENTIAL LOCK POSITION SWITCH (NO. 1 TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH)
  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Diagnostic trouble code C1248 Land Cruiser. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

    Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
    2 (+B) - 1 (GND) Pushed Below 1 ?
    Not pushed 10 k? or higher

REPLACE NO. 1 TRANSFER INDICATOR SWITCH

2.CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DIFFERENTIAL LOCK SWITCH - SKID CONTROL ECU AND BODY GROUND)

Diagnostic trouble code C1248 Land Cruiser. Disconnect the A24 skid control ECU connector.

  1. Disconnect the A24 skid control ECU connector.

  1. Disconnect the f2 differential lock switch connector.

  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:

    Tester Connection Condition Tester Connection
    f2-2 (+B) - A24-26 (EXI3) Always Below 1 ?
    f2-2 (+B) - Body ground Always 10 k? or higher
    f2-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 ?

REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

3.CHECK DTC
  1. Clear the DTC .

  1. Drive the vehicle at 50 km/h (30 mph) or more.

  1. Check if the same DTC is output .
