Lexus IS250 IS220d GSE20 ALE20 - SUSPENSION
FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER - REMOVAL
| 1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL |
| 2. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR |
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front speed sensor from the front shock absorber with coil spring.
- HINT:
- Be careful not to deform the bracket of the front shock absorber with coil spring when removing the bolt.
| 3. REMOVE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY |
Remove the nut and separate the front stabilizer link from the front lower suspension arm.
| 4. SEPARATE FRONT UPPER SUSPENSION ARM |
Remove the clip and nut.
Using SST, remove the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle.

| 5. SEPARATE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER |
Support the front lower suspension arm with a jack.
- NOTICE:
- Be sure to place a wooden block between the jack and the front lower suspension arm to avoid damage.
Loosen the nut while holding the bolt with a wrench.
- NOTICE:
- Do not remove the nut.
| 6. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (for 4GR-FSE) |
Remove the 5 clips and side cover.
| 7. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (for 2AD-FHV) |
Remove the 4 clips and side cover.
| 8. REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH (for 2AD-FHV) |
Remove the clip, the nut and the engine room side cover RH.
| 9. REMOVE AIR DUCT (w/ Combustion Type Power Heater) |
Disengage the clip and the clamp and remove the air duct.
| 10. REMOVE INJECTOR DRIVER (for 2AD-FHV) |
Disconnect the 3 connectors.
Disengage the 2 clamps and separate the wire harness.
Remove the 2 bolts and the injector driver.
| 11. SEPARATE HEATER ASSEMBLY BRACKET (w/ Combustion Type Power Heater) |
Remove the bolt and the nut.
Separate the heater assembly bracket from the heater and accessory assembly.
| 12. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER WITH COIL SPRING |
Loosen the lock nut of the front shock absorber.
- NOTICE:
Remove the 3 nuts on the upper side of the front suspension support.
Remove the front No. 3 spring support reinforcement.
Slowly lower the jack.
Remove the bolt on the lower side of the front shock absorber and remove the front shock absorber with coil spring.
| 13. REMOVE FRONT SHOCK ABSORBER |
Install SST to the front coil spring so that the 2 hooks on the SST are fully extended.
Fully compress the coil spring with the SST.

- NOTICE:
- Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
Remove the lock nut.
Remove the front suspension support assembly together with the front upper coil spring insulator.
Remove the front upper coil spring insulator from the front suspension support assembly.
Remove the front spring bumper from the front suspension support assembly.
Remove the front coil spring and SST.
Remove the SST from the coil spring.
- NOTICE:
- Do not use an impact wrench. It will damage the SST.
Remove the front lower coil spring insulator.
