Lexus IS250 IS220d GSE20 ALE20 2AD-FHV INTAKE
TURBOCHARGER - ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
1. INSPECT EXHAUST SYSTEM |
Check for leaks or clogging between the cylinder head and turbocharger inlet, and also between the turbocharger outlet and exhaust pipe.
Condition | Operation |
Deformed components | Repair or replace |
Foreign material in passages | Remove |
Leakage from components | Repair or replace |
Cracks in components | Check and replace |
2. CHECK TURBOCHARGING PRESSURE |

Warm up the engine.
Using a 3-way connector, connect SST (turbocharger pressure gauge) to the hose leading to the intake air connector.
- SST
- 09992-00242
While depressing the clutch pedal, fully depress the accelerator pedal down. Measure the turbocharging pressure at maximum speed (5,100 to 5,250 rpm).
- Standard pressure:
- 48 to 53 kPa (0.49 to 0.54 kgf/cm2, 6.9 to 7.7 psi)
If the pressure is less than the specified range, check both the intake and exhaust systems for leakage. If there is no leaks, check if the actuator hose is properly connected. If there is no problem with the hose, check the turbocharger. If the pressure is greater than the specified range, check if the actuator hose is properly connected, or is cracked. If there is no problem with the hose, check the turbocharger.
