Vane Pump (For 1Ur-Fe) -- Installation |
1. INSTALL VANE PUMP ASSEMBLY |
Install the vane pump with the 2 bolts.
- Torque:
- 21 N*m{214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf}
2. CONNECT SUCTION HOSE |
Connect the suction hose to the vane pump assembly with the clip.
3. CONNECT PRESSURE FEED TUBE |
Install a new gasket to the pressure feed tube.
Connect the pressure feed tube with the union bolt.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
4. CONNECT POWER STEERING OIL PRESSURE SENSOR CONNECTOR |
Connect the connector.
Attach the wire harness clamp.
5. INSTALL FAN AND GENERATOR V BELT |
Set the fan and generator V belt onto every part.

While turning the belt tensioner counterclockwise, remove the pin.
- NOTICE:
- Make sure that the fan and generator V belt is properly set on each pulley.
Check that the belt fits properly in the ribbed grooves.
- HINT:
- Make sure to check by hand that the belt has not slipped out of the grooves on the bottom of the pulley.
6. INSTALL AIR CLEANER AND HOSE |
Install the air cleaner and hose with the 3 bolts, and then tighten the hose clamp.
- Torque:
- for bolt:
- 5.0 N*m{51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf}
- for hose clamp:
- 2.5 N*m{25 kgf*cm, 22 in.*lbf}
Attach the clamp and connect the mass air flow meter connector.
Connect the No. 2 PCV hose and No. 1 air hose.
7. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Attach the 2 V-bank cover hooks to the bracket. Then align the 3 V-bank cover grommets with the 3 pins, and press down on the V-bank cover to attach the pins.

8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER APRON TRIM PACKING A |
w/ KDSS
Install the front fender apron trim packing B with the 3 clips.
w/o KDSS
Install the front fender apron trim packing B with the 4 clips.
9. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL RH |
- Torque:
- for Aluminum Wheel:
- 131 N*m{1336 kgf*cm, 97 ft.*lbf}
- for Steel Wheel:
- 209 N*m{2131 kgf*cm, 154 ft.*lbf}
10. ADD POWER STEERING FLUID |
11. BLEED POWER STEERING FLUID |
Check the fluid level.
Jack up the front of the vehicle and support it with stands.
Turn the steering wheel.
With the engine stopped, turn the wheel slowly from lock to lock several times.
Lower the vehicle.
Start the engine.
Idle the engine for a few minutes.
Turn the steering wheel.
With the engine idling, turn the wheel left or right to the full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds, then turn the wheel to the opposite full lock position and keep it there for 2 to 3 seconds. *1
Repeat *1 several times.
- NOTICE:
- For vehicles with VGRS, if the steering wheel is turned from lock to lock repeatedly, the system may stop operating and the amount of rotation before the steering wheel locks may increase due to operation of the overheating prevention function. When the system temperature drops, the system operation automatically returns to normal.
Stop the engine.
Check for foaming or emulsification.
If the system has to be bled twice because of foaming or emulsification, check for fluid leaks in the system.Text in Illustration *a Correct *b Incorrect

13. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
