Knee Airbag Assembly (For Hatchback) -- Installation |
- CAUTION:
- Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000KT10EAX.html).
| 1. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY |
Check that the ignition switch is off.
Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.
- CAUTION:
- Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.
Connect the airbag connector.

Push in the locking button to the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
- NOTICE:
- Securely lock the locking button.
Engage the 6 claws and install the lower No. 1 instrument panel airbag assembly.
Install the 4 bolts.
- Torque:
- 10 N*m{102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf}
| 2. INSTALL NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY |
Engage the guide and the claw.
Install the instrument panel under cover with the 2 <A> screws.
| 3. INSTALL LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER |
Engage the 3 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
While turning the steering wheel to the right and left, install the 2 screws.
Install the screw to the lower portion of the lower steering column cover.
- NOTICE:
- After installing the steering column cover lower, check to make sure that it does not rattle and is not loose. If the steering column cover lower is loose or rattles, replace the installation grommet for the lower side screw with a new one.
| 4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
- Torque:
- 5.4 N*m{55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf}
| 5. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT |
