  1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

  2. REMOVE OIL FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  3. INSTALL OIL FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. ADD ENGINE OIL

  5. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK

  6. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEVEL

Oil And Oil Filter (For Sedan) -- Replacement


CAUTION:
  1. Prolonged and repeated contact with engine oil will result in the removal of natural oils from the skin, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. Used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
  2. Take precautions when replacing engine oil to minimize the risk of your skin making contact with used engine oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves that cannot be penetrated by oil. Wash skin with soap and water, or use waterless hand cleaner, to completely remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinner, or solvents.
  3. Dispose of used oil and used oil filters at designated disposal sites in order to preserve the environment.


1. DRAIN ENGINE OIL

  1. Remove the oil filler cap.

  1. Remove the oil pan drain plug and drain the engine oil.

  1. Clean the drain plug.

  1. Install the drain plug with a new gasket.

    Torque:
    38 N*m{382 kgf*cm, 28 ft.*lbf}


2. REMOVE OIL FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Using SST, remove the oil filter.

    SST
    09228-06501


3. INSTALL OIL FILTER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Clean the oil filter installation surface.

  1. Apply engine oil to the oil filter gasket.

  1. Lightly screw the oil filter into the engine until the oil filter does not turn.

  1. Using SST, tighten the oil filter an additional 3/4 turn.

    SST

    Torque:
    13 N*m{133 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf}


4. ADD ENGINE OIL

  1. Add fresh oil and install the oil filler cap.

    Engine oil:
    Oil Grade
    		Oil Viscosity (SAE)
    ILSAC multigrade engine oil
    		5W-30
    Oil capacity:
    Item
    		Capacity
    Drain and refill with oil filter change
    		3.7 liters (3.9 US qts, 3.3 lmp. qts)
    Drain and refill without oil filter change
    		3.4 liters (3.6 US qts, 3.0 lmp. qts)
    Dry fill
    		4.1 liters (4.3 US qts, 3.6 lmp. qts)


5. INSPECT FOR OIL LEAK


6. INSPECT FOR ENGINE OIL LEVEL

  1. Warm up the engine, then stop the engine and wait for 5 minutes.

  1. Check that the engine oil level is between the low and full marks on the engine oil level dipstick.
    If the engine oil level is low, check for oil leakage and add engine oil up to the full level mark.

    NOTICE:
    Do not add engine oil to above the full level mark.
