LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Disc Brake)
REMOVE REAR WHEEL
REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake)
SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake)
SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake)
REMOVE REAR DISC (for Rear Disc Brake)
DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (w/ ABS)
REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake)
REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake)

1. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY |

2. LOOSEN PARKING BRAKE CABLE (for Rear Disc Brake) |
Loosen the equalizer and lock nut.

- NOTICE:
- Do not reuse the loosened nut.
4. REMOVE REAR BRAKE DRUM SUB-ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake) |
Release the parking brake and remove the rear brake drum.
If the rear brake drum cannot be removed easily, perform the following procedure.
Remove the hole plug and insert a screwdriver through the hole into the backing plate, and hold the automatic adjust lever away from the adjuster.

Using another screwdriver, contract the brake shoe by turning the adjusting bolt.
5. SEPARATE NO. 3 PARKING BRAKE CABLE ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) |
Separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly from the rear disc brake cylinder operation lever.
Insert an offset wrench 14 mm at the base of the parking brake cable as shown in the illustration to disengage the clip. Pull out the parking brake cable from the rear disc brake cylinder assembly.

6. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) |
Remove the 2 bolts and separate the rear disc brake cylinder assembly from the axle beam.
- NOTICE:
- Hang the caliper using a piece of string or the equivalent.
7. REMOVE REAR DISC (for Rear Disc Brake) |
Place matchmarks on the rear disc and axle hub, and remove the rear disc.

8. DISCONNECT SKID CONTROL SENSOR WIRE (w/ ABS) |
Using a screwdriver, disengage the claw of the connector lock portion and disconnect the skid control sensor wire connector.
9. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Rear Drum Brake) |
Remove the 4 bolts and remove the rear axle hub and bearing assembly from the axle beam.
- NOTICE:
- Suspend the backing plate with a piece of rope.
- HINT:
- The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
10. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY (for Rear Disc Brake) |
Remove the 4 bolts , the rear axle hub and bearing assembly and disc brake dust cover sub-assembly from the axle beam.
- HINT:
- The rear speed sensor is a component of the rear axle hub and bearing assembly. If the sensor malfunctions, replace the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.
