  1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY

  2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE

  3. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY

  4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

  6. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

  7. INSPECT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEAK

  8. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH

Valve Body Assembly (For Hatchback) -- Installation



1. INSTALL TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY ASSEMBLY
  1. Coat a new transaxle case 2nd brake gasket and new transaxle case gasket with Toyota Genuine ATF WS and install them to the transaxle case.

  1. Install the check ball body spring and the check ball body.

  1. Align the groove of the manual valve with the pin of the manual valve lever.

  1. Temporarily install the transmission valve body assembly with the 13 bolts.

  1. Temporarily install the manual detent spring and the manual detent spring cover with the 2 bolts.

  1. Check that the manual valve lever comes into contact with the center of the roller at the tip of the manual detent spring.

  1. Tighten the 15 bolts.

    Torque:
    11 N*m{110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf}


2. INSTALL TRANSMISSION WIRE
  1. Install the transmission wire with the lock plate and bolt.

    Torque:
    11 N*m{110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf}
  1. Connect the 5 connectors to the transmission valve body assembly.



3. INSTALL VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY
  1. Coat a new oil strainer gasket with Toyota Genuine ATF WS and install it to the valve body oil strainer assembly.

  1. Install the valve body oil strainer assembly with the 3 bolts.

    Torque:
    11 N*m{110 kgf*cm, 8 ft.*lbf}


4. INSTALL AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY
  1. Install the 2 oil cleaner magnets to the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly.

  1. Apply adhesive to 2 or 3 threads on the end of the 2 bolts A.

    Adhesive:
    Toyota Genuine Adhesive 1324, Three Bond 1324 or equivalent

  1. Install the automatic transaxle oil pan sub-assembly and a new automatic transaxle oil pan gasket with the 19 bolts.

    Torque:
    Bolt A:
    7.4 N*m{75 kgf*cm, 65 in.*lbf}
    Bolt B:
    7.8 N*m{80 kgf*cm, 69 in.*lbf}


5. ADD AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

6. INSPECT AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID

HINT:
Drive the vehicle until the engine and transaxle are at normal operating temperature.
Fluid temperature:
70 to 80 °C (158 to 176 °F)

  1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

  1. With the engine idling and the brake pedal depressed, shift the shift lever into all positions from P to L, and then return it to the P.

  1. Pull out the oil level dipstick and wipe it clean.

  1. Push it fully back into the pipe.

  1. Pull it out and check that the fluid level is within the HOT range.
    If there is any leakage, repair or replace O-rings, seal packing, oil seals, plugs or other parts.



7. INSPECT FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE FLUID LEAK


8. INSTALL ENGINE UNDER COVER LH
