Curtain Shield Airbag Assembly (For Sedan) Removal

Push in the lock button of the front seat headrest support and remove the front seat headrest.

w/Front passenger airbag:

1. Using a clip remover, remove the clamp.
   

2. Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.
   

3. Disconnect the buckle switch connector.
   

w/o Front passenger airbag:

1. Disconnect the buckle switch connector.
   

Move the front seat to its most rearward position.

Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, remove the 2 bolts from the front side.

Move the front seat to its most forward position.

Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, remove the 2 bolts from the rear side.

Remove the front seat.

w/Front passenger airbag:

1. Using a clip remover, remove the clamp.
   

2. Slide the slider and disconnect the airbag connector.
   

3. Disconnect the buckle switch connector.
   

4. Disconnect the occupant detection ECU connector.
   

w/o Front passenger airbag:

1. Disconnect the buckle switch connector.
   

Move the front seat to its most rearward position.

Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, remove the 2 bolts from the front side.

Move the front seat to its most forward position.

Using "TORX" socket wrench E10, remove the 2 bolts from the rear side.

Remove the front seat.

Hold the front edge of the rear seat cushion cover pad and lift it up, as shown in the illustration, to disengage the 2 hooks.

NOTICE:

Hold the area around the hooks so as to avoid deforming the rear seat cushion frame.

Pass the rear seat inner belt through the slit in the rear seat cushion cover pad, disengage the hook between the rear seat cushion cover pad and the rear seatback, and remove the rear seat cushion cover pad.

Hold the front edge of the rear seat cushion cover pad and lift it up, as shown in the illustration, to disengage the 2 hooks.

NOTICE:

Hold the area around the hooks so as to avoid deforming the rear seat cushion frame.

Pass the rear seat inner belt through the slit in the rear seat cushion cover pad, disengage the hook between the rear seat cushion cover pad and the rear seatback, and remove the rear seat cushion cover pad.

Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.

HINT:

Use the same procedure for both sides.

Remove the rear center seat outer belt from the rear center seat shoulder belt guide.

Remove the 3 bolts.

Disengage the 3 hooks and remove the rear seatback.

Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.

Pull the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.

Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and the rear seatback cover.

Remove the 2 bolts, the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.

Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.

Remove the rear center seat outer belt from the rear center seat shoulder belt guide.

Pull the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.

Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and the rear seatback cover.

Remove the 2 bolts, the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.

Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.

Remove the spare wheel cover.

w/ Grand Spare Tire:
Remove the luggage compartment trim inner pad.

w/o Grand Spare Tire:
Remove the luggage compartment trim inner pad.

Disengage the 11 claws and remove the front door scuff plate.

Disengage the 4 claws and remove the instrument panel under cover.

Remove the 2 screws.

Disengage the 3 claws and remove the instrument panel under cover.

Disengage the claw and the stud bolt and remove the cowl side trim board.

Remove the front door opening trim weatherstrip.

Disengage the 7 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate.

Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip.

Disengage the 2 clips and the 4 claws and remove the rear seat side cover.

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

NOTICE:

Replace the special clip with a new one when the roof side inner garnish is removed.

1. Disengage the 4 clips and the claw and remove the roof side inner garnish.
   

w/o Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Disengage the 4 clips and the claw and remove the roof side inner garnish.
   

Disengage the 3 claws and 2 clips and remove the center pillar lower garnish.

Pull portion A, shown in the illustration, toward you, remove the 2 claws on the lower side followed by the claw on the upper side. Then remove the seat belt anchor cover cap.

Remove the bolt and the through anchor.

Disengage the 2 clips and 2 hooks and remove the center pillar upper garnish.

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

NOTICE:

1. Install a protective cover onto the curtain shield airbag as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
   
2. Replace the special clip with a new one when the front pillar garnish is removed.
   

1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish.
   

w/o Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish.
   

Disconnect the antenna connector.

Using a clip remover, remove the 3 clamps.

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Completely cover the curtain shield airbag with a piece of cloth or nylon and fix the ends of the fabric with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.
   

   Protective cover size:

   Area	Measurement
   a	700 mm (27.56 in.)
   b	120 mm (4.72 in.)

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

NOTICE:

1. Install a protective cover onto the curtain shield airbag as soon as the front pillar garnish is removed.
   
2. Replace the special clip with a new one when the front pillar garnish is removed.
   

1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish.
   

w/o Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Disengage the 2 clips and the 2 claws and remove the front pillar garnish.
   

Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clamps.

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Completely cover the curtain shield airbag with a piece of cloth or nylon and fix the ends of the fabric with adhesive tape, as shown in the illustration.
   

   Protective cover size:

   Area	Measurement
   a	700 mm (27.56 in.)
   b	120 mm (4.72 in.)

Disengage the 2 claws and 2 clips and remove the instrument panel finish panel lower center.

Remove the shift lever knob.

Shift the shift lever into the N position.

Disengage the 5 clips and the claw and remove the upper console panel.

Disengage the 3 clips and 3 claws.

Disconnect the connector and remove the console upper rear panel.

Remove the console box carpet.

Disconnect the clamp.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 screws.

Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear console box.

Disengage the 6 claws and 3 clips and remove the instrument panel finish panel end RH.

Disengage the 6 claws and 3 clips and remove the instrument panel finish panel end LH.

Disengage the 7 claws and 5 clips and remove the instrument cluster finish panel.

Disconnect the 2 connectors.

Remove the 2 screws and pull the combination meter rearward to remove it.

Disengage the claw and separate the 2 glove compartment door stoppers from the glove compartment door.

Slightly flex the upper part of the glove compartment door to release the 2 stoppers and open the glove compartment door assembly until it becomes horizontal.

Pull the glove compartment door assembly out horizontally to disengage the hinge portion and remove the glove compartment door.

NOTICE:

Pull the glove compartment door out horizontally, otherwise, installation failure caused by excessive play around the hinge portion will result.

Slide the slider and disconnect the passenger airbag connector.

Disconnect the clamp.

Remove the 2 <C> bolts and 2 <B> screws.

Disengage the 7 clips by lifting the rear side of the instrument panel up.

While lifting the instrument panel, slide it toward the rear of the vehicle. Disengage the 5 claws from the front side of the instrument panel and remove the instrument panel.

Open the instrument panel box.

Pull the instrument panel box out horizontally with the instrument panel open and disengage the 2 hinges.

Remove the stopper of the instrument panel box from the cutout of the instrument panel lower and remove the instrument panel box.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and remove the assist grip cover.

Disengage the 2 springs and remove the assist grip.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the visor bracket cover.

NOTICE:

Visor bracket cover cannot be reused.

Remove the visor shaft from the visor holder.

Disengage the 2 springs and remove the visor.

Disengage the 2 claws by turning the visor counterclockwise between 60 to 120° and remove the visor holder.

HINT:

The claw may be damaged during removal. However, it is reusable because this does not effect its function.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light lens.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and remove the cover.

HINT:

Use the same procedure for both sides.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and remove the room light.

Remove the roof wire from the claw of the room light.

Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 4 claws and disconnect the room light switch base.

Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 claws and remove the map light.

Disconnect the map light connector.

Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clamps.

Disconnect the roof wire connector.

Using a clip remover, remove the clamp.

Disconnect the antenna connector.

w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
   

2. Disengage the 4 hooks.
   

w/o Curtain Shield Airbag:

1. Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips.
   

2. Disengage the 2 claws and 4 hooks.
   

Remove the roof headlining from the front door.

Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, release the locking button.

Using a thin-bladed screwdriver, detach the airbag connector.

Remove the 9 bolts, disengage the 3 hooks and remove the curtain shield airbag.

Remove the bolt, disengage the 2 hooks and remove the curtain shield airbag bracket.

Remove the 2 bolts, disengage the 2 hooks and remove the roof side rail bracket.
