Back Window Glass (For Sedan) -- Removal |
- CAUTION:
- Some of these service operations affect the SRS airbag system. Read the precautionary notices concerning the SRS airbag system before servicing (YARIS_NCP93 RM000000KT10D1X.html).
- NOTICE:
- Always use "Torx" socket wrench E10 when removing the rear seat.
1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
Wait for at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent the airbag from working.
2. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION COVER PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY |
for Fixed Seat Type:
Remove the rear seat cushion cover pad sub-assembly (YARIS_NCP93 RM000001GM000YX_02_0009.html).
for 60/40 Split Seat Type:
Remove the rear seat cushion cover pad sub-assembly (YARIS_NCP93 RM0000026GD00WX_01_0003.html).
3. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY RH (for 60/40 Split Seat Type) |
Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.
Remove the rear center seat outer belt from the rear center seat shoulder belt guide.
Pull the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and the rear seatback cover.
Remove the 2 bolts, the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.
4. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY LH (for 60/40 Split Seat Type) |
Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.
Pull the rear seatback lock release button and tilt the rear seatback forward.
Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and the rear seatback cover.
Remove the 2 bolts, the 2 hooks and the rear seatback.
5. REMOVE REAR SEATBACK ASSEMBLY (for Fixed Seat Type) |
Remove the rear seat outer belt from the rear seat shoulder belt guide.
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure for both sides.
Remove the rear center seat outer belt from the rear center seat shoulder belt guide.
Remove the 3 bolts.
Disengage the 3 hooks and remove the rear seatback.
6. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT (for 60/40 Split Seat Type) |
Remove the luggage compartment floor mat.
7. REMOVE SPARE WHEEL COVER ASSEMBLY (for 60/40 Split Seat Type) |
Remove the spare wheel cover.
8. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT TRIM INNER PAD (for 60/40 Split Seat Type) |
w/ Grand Spare Tire:
Remove the luggage compartment trim inner pad.
w/o Grand Spare Tire:
Remove the luggage compartment trim inner pad.
9. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE RH |
Disengage the 7 claws and remove the rear door scuff plate.
10. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the RH side.
11. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP RH |
Remove the rear door opening trim weatherstrip.
12. REMOVE REAR DOOR OPENING TRIM WEATHERSTRIP LH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the RH side.
13. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE COVER RH |
Disengage the 2 clips and the 4 claws and remove the rear seat side cover.
14. REMOVE REAR SEAT SIDE COVER LH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the RH side.
15. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH RH |
w/ Curtain Shield Airbag:
- NOTICE:
- Replace the special clip with a new one when the roof side inner garnish is removed.
Disengage the 4 clips and the claw and remove the roof side inner garnish.
w/o Curtain Shield Airbag:
Disengage the 4 clips and the claw and remove the roof side inner garnish.
16. REMOVE ROOF SIDE INNER GARNISH LH |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure as for the RH side.
17. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP COVER |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure to remove all the assist grip covers.
Using a screwdriver with its tip wrapped in protective tape, disengage the 2 claws and remove the assist grip cover.
18. REMOVE ASSIST GRIP SUB-ASSEMBLY |
- HINT:
- Use the same procedure to remove all the assist grips.
Disengage the 2 springs and remove the assist grip.
19. REMOVE HIGH MOUNTED STOP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (w/o Rear Spoiler) |
Disengage the 2 claws.
Disengage the 2 claws.
Disconnect the connector and remove the high mounted stop light assembly.
20. REMOVE PACKAGE TRAY TRIM PANEL ASSEMBLY |
Using a clip remover, remove the 4 clips.
Disengage the 5 claws and remove the package tray trim panel.
21. REMOVE ROOF HEADLINING ASSEMBLY |
- HINT:
- It is not necessary to remove the roof headlining completely. Slightly lower the rear section of the roof headlining.
22. REMOVE BACK WINDOW OUTSIDE MOULDING |
Using a knife, cut off the back window outside moulding, as shown in the illustration.
- NOTICE:
- Do not damage the vehicle body with the knife.
Remove the back window outside moulding.
- HINT:
- Make a partial cut in the back window outside moulding. Then pull and remove it by hand.
23. REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS |
Apply protective tape to the outer circumference of the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.
From the interior, insert piano wires between the vehicle body and the back window glass, as shown in the illustration.
Tie objects that can serve as handles (for example, wooden blocks) to all wire ends.
- NOTICE:
- When separating the back window glass from the vehicle, do not damage the vehicle's paintwork or exterior/interior ornaments.
- To prevent the safety pad from being scratched when removing the back window glass, place a plastic sheet between the piano wire and safety pad.
Place matchmarks on the back window glass and vehicle body in the locations indicated in the illustration.
- HINT:
- Matchmarks do not need to be placed unless the back window glass is going to be reused.
Cut through the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around the back window glass.
Disengage the 2 stoppers.
Using suction cups, remove the back window glass.
- NOTICE:
- Leave as much adhesive on the vehicle body as possible when removing the back window glass.
