  1. REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY

  2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING

  3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING

Steering Knuckle (For Hatchback) -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedure for the RH side as for the LH side.
  2. The procedure listed below is for the LH side.


1. REMOVE FRONT AXLE ASSEMBLY

2. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB HOLE SNAP RING

  1. Using snap ring pliers, remove the axle hub hole snap ring.

    NOTICE:
    When removing the hole snap ring, do not damage the magnetic rotor surface.


3. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Fix the steering knuckle in a vise between aluminum plates.

    NOTICE:
    Do not overtighten the vise.

  1. Using SST, remove the axle hub.

  1. Using SST, remove the axle hub bearing inner race.

    NOTICE:
    1. When removing the inner race, it the axle hub is damaged, replace the axle hub with a new one.
    2. Apply a small amount of grease to the threads and tip of SST before use.


4. REMOVE FRONT DISC BRAKE DUST COVER

  1. Remove the disc brake dust cover by tapping the back side with a brass bar and hammer.



5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING

  1. Install the removed axle hub bearing inner race onto the outer side of the axle hub bearing.

  1. Using SST and a press, remove the axle hub bearing.
