DTC B1627/82 Lost Communication with Front Passenger Side - Side Airbag Sensor Assembly |
DESCRIPTION
The front passenger side - side airbag sensor consists of parts including the diagnostic circuit and the lateral deceleration sensor. When the center airbag sensor receives signals from the lateral deceleration sensor, it determines whether or not the SRS should be activated.DTC B1627/82 is set when a malfunction is detected in the front passenger side - side airbag sensor circuit.DTC No.
| DTC Detection Condition
| Trouble Area
|
B1627/82
| When one of following conditions is met:
- Center airbag sensor detects line short signal, open signal, short to ground signal or short to B+ signal in front passenger side - side airbag sensor circuit for 2 seconds.
- Front passenger side - side airbag sensor malfunction
- Center airbag sensor malfunction
| - Floor wire

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
1.CHECK CONNECTION OF CONNECTOR |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Check that the connectors are properly connected to the center airbag sensor, front passenger side rear airbag sensor and the front passenger side - side airbag sensor.
- OK:
- The connectors are properly connected.
2.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (OPEN) |
Disconnect the connectors from the center airbag sensor and the front passenger side - side airbag sensor.
for LHD:
Using a service wire, connect L6-4 (BBR+) and L6-3 (BBR-) of connector C.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
for RHD:
Using a service wire, connect K2-4 (BBL+) and K2-3 (BBL-) of connector C.
- NOTICE:
- Do not forcibly insert the service wire into the terminals of the connector when connecting.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
- Standard resistance:
- for LHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
L3-8 (BBP+) - L3-11 (BBP-)
| Below 1 Ω
|
- for RHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
K2-8 (BBP+) - K2-11 (BBP-)
| Below 1 Ω
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
3.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (SHORT) |
Disconnect the service wire from connector C.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
- Standard resistance:
- for LHD:

| Specified Condition
|
K2-8 (BBP+) - K2-11 (BBP-)
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
4.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO B+) |
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch on (IG).
Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
- Standard voltage:
- for LHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
L3-8 (BBP+) - Body ground
| Below 1 V
|
L3-11 (BBP-) - Body ground
| Below 1 V
|
- for RHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
K2-8 (BBP+) - Body ground
| Below 1 V
|
K2-11 (BBP-) - Body ground
| Below 1 V
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
5.CHECK FLOOR WIRE (TO GROUND) |
Turn the ignition switch off.
Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connector.
- Standard resistance:
- for LHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
L3-8 (BBP+) - Body ground
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
L3-11 (BBP-) - Body ground
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
- for RHD:
Tester Connection
| Specified Condition
|
K2-8 (BBP+) - Body ground
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
K2-11 (BBP-) - Body ground
| 1 MΩ or higher
|
| REPAIR OR REPLACE FLOOR WIRE |
|
|
6.CHECK PASSENGER SIDE - SIDE AIRBAG SENSOR |
Connect the connectors to the center airbag sensor.
Interchange the front passenger side - side airbag sensor with the driver side - side airbag sensor and connect the connectors to them.
Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
Turn the ignition switch on (IG), and wait for at least 60 seconds.
Clear the DTCs (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XFE06SX.html).
