Rear No. 1 Suspension Arm Installation

  1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

  3. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  4. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY

  5. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

  6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  7. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Rear No. 1 Suspension Arm -- Installation


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are for the LH side.


1. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Temporarily install the suspension arm with a new nut to the axle carrier.

  1. Insert the rear suspension toe adjust cam subassembly from the rear of the vehicle to install the rear No. 1 suspension arm assembly LH, and then temporarily install the No. 2 camber adjust cam with the nut.

  1. Tighten the nut.

    Torque:
    100 N*m{1020 kgf*cm, 74 ft.*lbf}


2. TEMPORARILY INSTALL REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

  1. Temporarily install the bracket to the shock absorber lower side with the bolt and nut.

    NOTICE:
    Fix the nut in place and temporarily install the bolt.

  1. Temporarily install the shock absorber upper side to the suspension member with the bolt and nut.

    NOTICE:
    Fix the nut in place and temporarily install the bolt.

  1. Install the shock absorber with the 2 bolts to the axle carrier.

    Torque:
    80 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf}


3. STABILIZE SUSPENSION

  1. Lower the vehicle.

  1. Press down on the vehicle several times to stabilize the suspension.



4. TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY


    Toyota Rav4. Aca30, 33, 38 Gsa33 Zsa30, 35

  1. Tighten the nut.

    Torque:
    120 N*m{1224 kgf*cm, 89 ft.*lbf}
    NOTICE:
    Align the matchmarks on the rear suspension member and adjust cam.


5. TIGHTEN REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH

  1. For the shock absorber upper and lower side, fix the 2 nuts in place and tighten the 2 bolts.

    Torque:
    80 N*m{816 kgf*cm, 59 ft.*lbf}


6. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

  1. Install the wheel.

    Torque:
    103 N*m{1050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf}


7. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

  1. Inspect and adjust the rear wheel alignment (RAV4_ACA30 RM00000227X00IX.html).
