REMOVE REAR WHEEL
REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
REMOVE REAR DISC
CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION
INSTALL REAR DISC
INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY
INSTALL REAR WHEEL

2. REMOVE REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY |
Remove the 2 bolts and cylinder.
Put matchmarks on the disc and axle hub.
Release the parking brake.
Turn the shoe adjuster until the disc turns freely, and then remove the disc.
Install the shoe adjusting hole plug to the rear disc.
4. CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION |
Using a dial indicator, measure the backlash near the center of the axle hub.
- Maximum backlash:
- 0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
If the backlash is greater than the maximum, replace the axle hub.
Using a dial indicator, measure the deviation on the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
- Maximum deviation:
- for 2WD:
- 0.08 mm (0.00315 in.)
- for 4WD:
- 0.06 mm (0.00236 in.)
If the deviation is greater than the maximum, replace the axle hub.
Align the matchmarks and install the disc.
- HINT:
- When replacing the disc with a new one, select the installation position where the disc has the smallest runout.
6. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CYLINDER ASSEMBLY |
Install the cylinder with the 2 bolts.
- Torque:
- 26.5 N*m{270 kgf*cm, 20 ft.*lbf}
