  1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT

  2. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL NO. 1 AND NO. 2 SUPPORT

  3. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DYNAMIC DAMPER

  4. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH

  6. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH

  7. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  8. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  9. INSTALL FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

  10. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL

Differential Carrier Assembly -- Installation



1. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT


    Toyota Rav4. Aca30, 33, 38 Gsa33 Zsa30, 35

  1. Install the differential support to the differential carrier with the 4 bolts.

    Torque:
    98 N*m{999 kgf*cm, 72 ft.*lbf}


2. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL NO. 1 AND NO. 2 SUPPORT


    Toyota Rav4. Aca30, 33, 38 Gsa33 Zsa30, 35

  1. Install the differential No. 1 and No. 2 supports with the 4 bolts to the differential carrier.

    Torque:
    55 N*m{561 kgf*cm, 41 ft.*lbf}


3. INSTALL REAR DIFFERENTIAL DYNAMIC DAMPER

  1. Install the damper front side with the 2 bolts to the No. 1 support.

    Torque:
    39 N*m{398 kgf*cm, 29 ft.*lbf}


4. INSTALL DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Support the rear differential carrier with a transmission jack or equivalent.

  1. Apply hypoid gear oil to the splines of the left and right rear drive shaft inboard joints.

  1. Align the splines of the rear drive shaft inboard joints and, using a brass bar and hammer, tap in the left and right rear drive shafts.

    NOTICE:
    1. Face the cutout section of the snap ring downward.
    2. Do not damage the oil seal during the insertion.
    3. Do not strike the tip of the outboard joint with the hammer.
    HINT:
    Determine whether or not the rear drive shaft is completely tapped in by checking for changes in sound or the reaction force of the brass bar.

  1. Slowly raise the transmission jack, install the 3 bolts.

    Torque:
    for bolt A:
    86 N*m{877 kgf*cm, 63 ft.*lbf}
    for bolt B:
    106 N*m{1080 kgf*cm, 78 ft.*lbf}
    NOTICE:
    Tighten the bolts, not the nuts.

  1. Connect the connector.

  1. Install the breather tube.

  1. Connect the harness clamp.



5. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH

  1. Install the member brace with the 2 bolts to the suspension member.

    Torque:
    60 N*m{612 kgf*cm, 44 ft.*lbf}


6. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH
HINT:
Use the same procedures described for the LH side.


7. INSTALL PROPELLER WITH CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the propeller shaft assembly (RAV4_ACA30 RM00000226E001X.html).



8. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the exhaust pipe for 1AZ-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001XBI002X_01_0003.html).

  1. Install the exhaust pipe for 2AZ-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001XBL01JX_01_0002.html).

  1. Install the exhaust pipe for 1GR-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM00000252Q007X_01_0010.html).

  1. Install the exhaust pipe for 3ZR-FAE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000001XBL01KX.html).



9. INSTALL FUEL TANK ASSEMBLY

  1. Install the fuel tank for 1AZ-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000YLR03DX.html).

  1. Install the fuel tank for 2AZ-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000YLR030X.html).

  1. Install the fuel tank for 2GR-FE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000YLR02ZX.html).

  1. Install the fuel tank for 3AZ-FAE (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000YLR034X.html).



10. ADD DIFFERENTIAL OIL

  1. Add the differential oil (RAV4_ACA30 RM000002270001X_01_0001.html).
