Tire And Wheel System -- Inspection |
| 1. INSPECT TIRE |
Measure the tires for wear and proper inflation pressure.
- Standard Cold Tire Inflation Pressure:
Tire Size Front Rear 215/70R16 99H
225/65R17 101H
235/55R18 99H220 kPa (2.2 kgf/cm2, 32 psi) 220 kPa (2.2 kgf/cm2, 32 psi) 225/65R17 101H
(for Eco Package)230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm2, 33 psi) 230 kPa (2.3 kgf/cm2, 33 psi)
Using a dial indicator, check the runout of the tires.
- Standard tire runout:
- 1.0 mm (0.0393 in.) or less

| 2. ROTATE TIRE |

- HINT:
- Rotate the tires as shown in (A) in the illustration if the spare tire and its wheel are the same as the vehicle's other tires.
- Rotate the tires as shown in (B) in the illustration if the spare tire or its wheel is different from the vehicle's other tires, or if the vehicle is not equipped with a spare tire.
| 3. INSPECT WHEEL BALANCE |
Check and adjust the off-the car balance.
- Standard imbalance after adjustment:
- 8.0 g (0.018 lb) or less
| 4. CHECK FRONT AXLE HUB BEARING |
Inspect the axle hub backlash.
Using a dial indicator, measure the backlash near the center of the axle hub.
- Maximum backlash:
- 0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
- If the backlash is greater than the maximum, replace the bearing.

Inspect the axle hub deviation.
Using a dial indicator, measure the deviation on the surface of the axle hub.
- Maximum deviation:
- 0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)
- If the deviation is greater than the maximum, replace the bearing.
| 5. CHECK BEARING BACKLASH AND AXLE HUB DEVIATION |
Using a dial indicator, measure the backlash near the center of the axle hub.
- Maximum backlash:
- 0.05 mm (0.00197 in.)

Using a dial indicator, measure the deviation on the surface of the axle hub outside the hub bolt.
- Maximum deviation:
- for 2WD:
- 0.08 mm (0.00315 in.)
- for 4WD:
- 0.06 mm (0.00236 in.)
