Steering Angle Sensor -- Installation |
| 1. INSTALL STEERING ANGLE SENSOR |
Align the locating pins, attach the 6 claws to install the sensor to the spiral cable.

| 2. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for LHD) |
Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.
Set the turn signal switch to the neutral position.
- NOTICE:
- Make sure that the turn signal switch is in the neutral position, as the pin of the turn signal switch may be snapped.
Install the spiral cable.
- NOTICE:
- When replacing the spiral cable with a new one, remove the lock pin before installing the steering wheel.

Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
Attach the 4 clips to the column cover (upper).
 |
Install the steering column cover (upper).
 |
| 3. INSTALL SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for RHD) |
Check that the front wheels are facing straight ahead.

- NOTICE:

Install the spiral cable.
- NOTICE:

Connect the connectors to the spiral cable.

Attach the 4 clips to the column cover (upper).

Install the steering column cover (upper).

| 4. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for LHD) |
Attach the claw to install the upper steering column cover.
 |
Attach the 4 claws to install the lower steering column cover.
 |
| 5. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER (for RHD) |
Attach the claw to install the steering column cover upper.
 |
Attach the 4 claws to install the steering column cover lower.
 |
| 6. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for LHD) |
Align the matchmarks and install the steering wheel to the steering column.
 |
Install the nut.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
Connect all the connectors to the spiral cable.
| 7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY (for RHD) |
Align the matchmarks and install the steering wheel to the steering column.
 |
Install the nut.
- Torque:
- 50 N*m{510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf}
Connect all the connectors to the spiral cable.
| 8. INSTALL STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY |
 |
Support the steering pad with one hand as shown in the illustration.
Connect the 2 airbag connectors.
- NOTICE:
- When handling the airbag connector, do not damage the airbag wire harness.
Connect the horn connector.
Install the steering pad after confirming that the circumference grooves of the screws are caught on the screw case.
Attach the 2 spring to steering pad.
| 9. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT |
| 10. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL |
| 11. INSPECT STEERING PAD ASSEMBLY |
Check for cuts, cracks or discoloration on the steering pad outer surface and in the grooved portion.
Check that the horn sounds.
| 12. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT |
Check the SRS warning light (RAV4_ACA30 RM000000XFD06JX.html).
