Throttle Body Removal

  1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER

  2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT

  3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

  4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY

Throttle Body -- Removal



1. REMOVE NO. 1 ENGINE UNDER COVER
  1. Remove the 2 bolts, 4 screw, 10 clips and under cover.



2. DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT
  1. Loosen the radiator drain cock plug.

    HINT:
    Collect the coolant in a container and dispose of it according to the regulations in your area.
  1. Remove the radiator reservoir cap.

    CAUTION:
    Do not remove the radiator reservoir cap while the engine and radiator are still hot. Pressurized, hot engine coolant and steam may be released and cause serious burns.


  1. Loosen the 2 cylinder block drain cock plugs.

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL


4. REMOVE V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Detach the 3 clips and remove the V-bank cover.



5. REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector.

  1. Disconnect the VSV (air intake control) connector.

  1. Disconnect the 2 wire harness clamps and 2 vacuum hoses.

  1. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose from the air cleaner hose.

  1. Loosen the No. 1 air cleaner hose clamp.

  1. Unfasten the 2 hook clamps, and then remove the air cleaner cap.

  1. Remove the air cleaner filter element from the air cleaner case.



6. REMOVE THROTTLE BODY

  1. Disconnect the 2 water by-pass hoses from the throttle body.

  1. Disconnect the control motor connector.

  1. Remove the 4 bolts, throttle body and wire harness clamp stay.

  1. Remove the gasket from the intake air surge tank.
