Turbocharger Removal

Remove the No. 1 engine cover.

Remove the 11 clips and intake duct seal.

Remove the 2 clips and side cover.

Remove the air cleaner cap with air cleaner hose.

1. Disconnect the No. 2 ventilation hose (^*1).
   

2. Disconnect the hose band (^*2).
   

3. Disconnect the mass air flow meter connector (^*3).
   

4. Disconnect the 3 clamps (^*4).
   

Loosen the 2 clips and remove the No. 1 air tube.

Loosen the clip and remove the No. 2 air hose.

Remove the 2 bolts and 2 compression springs.

Remove the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs, front exhaust pipe assembly and 2 gaskets.

Disconnect the 2 exhaust gas temperature sensor connectors.

Remove the 2 bolts and nut from the No. 1 manifold stay.

Remove the 2 bolts, nut and No. 2 manifold stay.

Using pliers, slide the clip to disconnect the No. 1 and No. 2 vacuum transmitting hose.

Remove the 3 nuts.

Remove the manifold converter sub-assembly and turbine outlet elbow gasket.

Remove the No. 1 manifold stay.

Remove the 3 bolts, and then remove the turbocharger stay.

Remove the 2 bolts, and then remove the insulator.

Using pliers, slide the clip to disconnect the No. 3 water by-pass hose.

HINT:

Place a container under the connection before disconnecting the No. 3 water by-pass hose because water in the hose may spill out.

Using pliers, slide the 2 clips to remove the turbo oil outlet hose.

Remove the 2 union bolts and gasket (^*1).

Remove the bolt (^*2) and No. 2 turbo oil pipe.

Remove the 3 nuts, No. 1 turbo water hose, turbocharger and gasket.

Remove the bolt (^*1).

Remove the 2 union bolts (^*2), 2 gaskets, No. 1 turbo water pipe sub-assembly and No. 2 turbo water pipe sub-assembly.

Remove the 2 nuts, gasket and turbo oil outlet pipe.

Remove the 3 stud bolts (exhaust manifold converter side).

Remove the 3 stud bolts (exhaust manifold side).

Remove the 2 stud bolts (turbo oil outlet pipe side).
