- Use this procedure to troubleshoot the theft deterrent system.
- The intelligent tester should be used in step 3.

Interview the customer to confirm the trouble (Click here)
3.INSPECT COMMUNICATION FUNCTION OF MULTIPLEX COMMUNICATION SYSTEM (BEAN) |
Use the intelligent tester to check for normal function of the multiplex communication system.
(ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) Without code output, proceed to A.
(ECU unconnected, communication line malfunctioning) With code output, proceed to B.

Check for DTC and note any codes that are output.
Delete the DTC.
Recheck for DTCs. Try to prompt the DTC by simulating the original activity that the DTC suggests.
If the DTC does not reoccur, proceed to A.
If the DTC reoccurs, proceed to B.
If the fault is not listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to A.
If the fault is listed on the problem symptoms table, proceed to B.
