Front Speed Sensor Removal

  1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

  2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR

  3. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  4. REMOVE FRONT DISC

  5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  6. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR

Front Speed Sensor -- Removal


HINT:
  1. Use the same procedures for the RH side and LH side.
  2. The procedures listed below are the LH side.


1. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL


2. DISCONNECT FRONT SPEED SENSOR

  1. Disconnect the front speed sensor connector to the front speed sensor.



3. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the No. 1 caliper plates from the brake caliper.

    NOTICE:
    Use wire or equivalent to prevent the brake caliper from hanging down by the flexible hose.


4. REMOVE FRONT DISC

  1. Put matchmarks on the disc and the axle hub.

  1. Remove the front disc.



5. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 4 bolts, front axle hub sub-assembly and front disc brake dust cover.



6. REMOVE FRONT SPEED SENSOR
  1. Install the 3 hub nuts to the hub bolt. Placing an aluminum plate below the hub and bearing assembly, hold them in a vise.

    NOTICE:
    Replace the hub and bearing assembly if it is dropped or receives a strong shock.

  1. Using SST, remove the front speed sensor from the front axle hub.

    NOTICE:
    1. Keep the sensor away from magnets.
    2. Pull the front speed sensor off straight, taking care not to make contact with the speed sensor rotor.
    3. If the speed sensor rotor is damaged or deformed, replace the hub and bearing assembly.
    4. Do not scratch the area where the speed sensor contacts the hub and bearing assembly.
    5. Do not attach foreign matter to the speed sensor rotor.
