  1. PRECAUTION

  2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL

  3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/o Illumination)

  4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/ Illumination)

  5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER

  6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL

  7. REMOVE NO.2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  9. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

  10. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY

  11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY

  12. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER NO.3 DUCT

  13. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2 DUCT

  14. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

Front Passenger Airbag Assembly -- Removal



1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing (Click here).


2. DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait for 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable to prevent airbag deployment.


3. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/o Illumination)

  1. Put protective tape around the front door scuff plate.

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips.

  1. Disengage the 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.



4. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE (w/ Illumination)

  1. Put protective tape around the front door scuff plate.

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips.

  1. Disengage the 7 claws and remove the front door scuff plate LH.

  1. Disconnect the connector.



5. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER

  1. Disengage the 6 claws and remove the front door opening trim cover LH.



6. REMOVE INSTRUMENT SIDE PANEL

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 5 claws and 3 clips, and then remove the side instrument panel LH.



7. REMOVE NO.2 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

  1. Using a moulding remover, disengage the 4 clips and remove the No. 2 instrument panel under cover sub-assembly.



8. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY


    Lexus Is250, Is220D. Gse20 Ale20

  1. Remove the 3 bolts and front passenger side knee airbag assembly.

  1. Disconnect the connector.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.


9. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 5 screws <E>.

  1. Disengage the 2 claws.

  1. Disconnect the connectors and remove the glove compartment door assembly.



10. DISCONNECT INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE ASSEMBLY

  1. Disconnect the connector.



11. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY
HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD SUB-ASSEMBLY" (Click here).


12. REMOVE HEATER TO REGISTER NO.3 DUCT

  1. Remove the 3 screws <F> and the No. 3 heater to register duct.



13. REMOVE SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE NO.2 DUCT


    Lexus Is250, Is220D. Gse20 Ale20

  1. Remove the screw <F> and the side No. 2 defroster nozzle duct.



14. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

  1. Remove the 2 screws.

  1. Disengage the 5 hooks (A).

  1. Disengage the 5 hooks (B) and remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel.

  1. Disconnect the 2 connectors and remove the 2 clamps.

  1. Remove the instrument panel wire assembly from the front passenger airbag assembly.

    NOTICE:
    When handling the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
