1.CATALYST RECORD OF DPNR THERMAL DETERIORATION
HINT:
The ECM stores the history data of DPNR catalyst thermal deterioration. This data is updated continuously and is then converted to 8-digit code and is stored in the EEPROM. If the ECM determines that replacement of the DPNR catalyst is required based on the thermal deterioration data, the DTC is set to inform the driver.
  1. When only the DPNR catalyst is replaced.

    1. After replacing the DPNR catalyst, clear the thermal deterioration data stored in the ECM (Click here).

  2. When only the ECM is replaced.

    1. After replacing the ECM, input the original thermal deterioration data stored before replacement (Click here).

      NOTICE:
      1. Read the thermal deterioration data stored in the ECM before replacement, and store the data in the intelligent tester.
      2. If the thermal deterioration data cannot be read, be sure to replace the DPNR catalyst with a new one and initialize the ECM (Click here).
  3. After replacing both the DPNR catalyst and the ECM, clear the thermal deterioration data stored in the new ECM (Click here).

    HINT:
Clearing the thermal codes is required because initialization codes are stored in a new ECM. Failure to do this will cause a DTC to be set.

2.INJECTOR COMPENSATION CODE
HINT:
  1. Each injector has different fuel injection characteristics. In order to optimize fuel injection performance, the ECM compensates for these differences by adjusting the fuel injection duration of each injector according to its compensation code. Injector compensation codes are unique, 30-digit, alphanumeric values printed on the head portion of each injector.
  2. If an incorrect injector compensation code is input into the ECM, the engine may rattle or engine idling may become rough. In addition, engine failure may occur and the life of the engine may be shortened.

  1. When an injector is replaced, the injector's compensation code must be input into the ECM (Click here).

  2. When the ECM is changed, all of the existing injector compensation codes must be input into the new ECM (Click here).

3.DIFFICULT TO START ENGINE, ENGINE STALLING, OR BLACK SMOKE EMITTED
  1. Check if the customer's problem is described below. If so, refer to the troubleshooting section on the page given.

    1. Engine is difficult to start or stalls (Click here).

    2. Black smoke is emitted (Click here).

4.FOR USING INTELLIGENT TESTER
CAUTION:
Observe the following items for safety reasons:
  1. Read its instruction books before using the tester.
  2. Prevent the tester cable from being caught on the pedals, shift lever and steering wheel when driving with the tester connected to the vehicle.
  3. When driving the vehicle for testing purposes using the tester, two persons are required. One is for driving the vehicle, and the other operates the tester.
